TMHTS Pt. 2

Refer back to Teach Me How To Sew Part 1.  Yep.  That was over a year ago that we started on that project.  And now, I am proud to announce that it is finished.  The best part about it was the added bonus of my best friend's birthday and a double date night at the drive in!

I came on Thursday and we got right to work!  We got that quilt in the frame.  It took quite a bit of time to sew all the backing onto the wooden frame, but we got plenty of chatting done in that time.  Whit was all about the iron throughout this project!  :)  We started tying those red strings on Thursday night.  We got through most of it.

Friday morning we got up and finished tying before Whit went to work.  I stopped by and let her play dress up with me before she was off the clock.  We got everything out of the frame and all the extra fabric trimmed off before we headed to the drive-in movie theater with the boys.

Saturday was the finale!  We got up and I set up my sewing machine.  Whit helped pull pins and shift that humongous quilt!  The binding was half on, and let me tell you, it was looking good!  While Whit trimmed the strings, I trimmed off a little extra fabric.

Then, another lesson was delivered.  I taught her how to hand sew the binding!  I did the corners for her, but she did the rest.  She worked steadily through The Aristocats and Avatar.  I left for a date with Dustin and the quilt was almost finished.  I come back and she had it finished and was snuggled up underneath its warmth!  :)  Caleb was pretty proud to have it on his bed!  :)

And she's already talking about another t-shirt quilt project...  :)
