Saturday:
- New-Z's birthday-I gave him chocolate milk as a present, and the quart was gone in about 6 blocks.
- Julia and I have decided that New-Z will become a resident of Manly, Iowa.
- New-Z slept most of the ride, so that gave me a chance to really catch up with Julia. We talked about EVERYTHING! Boys, school, God, camp, summer, and everything in between. It was great to hear about how God is using her, and what He has been teaching her lately.
- When we stopped for lunch, Julia spilled ketchup in my car. :)
- Lincoln lives in a sketchy neighborhood, but doesn't think so. Also, we did not get lost! He also didn't have anything packed because I might have, sort of, forgotten to tell him...
- The boys talked the whole way to Matt & Emily's. We hadn't realized how much we missed them and their antics. Mostly, I missed us all just being together.
- Matt & Emily have a CUTE house! It was so good to finally show up and tour the place and see where they have been called. Nathan is the cutest! He was such a ham the whole weekend and we soaked up every sweet minute!
- Mexican pile-up, Emily's chocolate chip cookies and Apples to Apples make for a HILARIOUS night of fullness and competition! Sadly, New-Z came away the victor. How many cookies did you eat, Julia?
Sunday:
- Julia and I had a 7:30am wake up call thanks to New-Z who set an alarm and then hid his phone in our room. We were not pleased with him!
- Church at Northridge was really great! The church that Matt is the youth pastor at is a really great house of God. The people were all welcoming and the message was great. Matt & Emily are very happy there.
- Emily made us triple-decker sandwiches for lunch. We also had more cookies! :)
- Julia, New-Z, Lincoln and I headed to Mall of America. We finally got a parking spot on the roof top of one of the garages. The elevator doors hated us! Julia and I wandered around for a while, and then met back up with the boys before exploring the LEGO store and the Disney store. Woody was our favorite!
- While riding the elevator back to the car, the boys had to hit every button and make the elevator hate us. We almost fell to the floor laughing. It's the little things like riding the elevator longer than you have to, ya know? :)
- Matt & Emily gave me all of their Disney codes so I could enter them into Disney Movie Rewards. This made Lindsay jealous!
- The rest of the night was spent eating more cookies, yes, I'm sure you were beginning to wonder how their could be any left by this point. New-Z and Julia read many, many FRIENDS trivia questions and Matt, Emily and I spouted back answers as quick as we could. We don't really know who actually won.
Monday:
- We Skyped with Whitney for a while, since she was unable to make the adventure with us. Nathan also spit his cereal onto the computer screen. New-Z also had fun with my camera.
- The afternoon was spent at the outlet mall where us girls scored some sweet deals on a few things. I've also got my eye on some things for when Momma and I go shopping tomorrow! ;)
- Still, we ate more cookies. Then, us girls, went and popped in Heidi. This is a classic! I watched it so many times at my Grandpa & Grandma Strupp's house as a little girl, but it had been a good 10 years since I had seen it.
- We had to pause the movie because Brianna arrived! It was good to see her again! We had a supper of $5 Pizza and Nutella filled crescent rolls. I was happily miserable with a very full belly!
- Bri and Em had their turn at the piano and sang together again. It was great to hear them again, and it was a great time of worship.
- Soon, Bri left and we finished Heidi. By that time it was 10:30pm and we hadn't made my request of egg rolls. Why not start then, right? So, we began the process. It was so much fun and they turned out deliciously! :)
- The next few hours were spent talking about EVERYTHING with Emily. Us girls talked about church, Heaven, what God will look like, relationships, God's Will, God's Voice, and so much more. We haven't talked with Emily like that since maybe Senior High, if not longer than that. We stayed up until around 1am.
- We finally decided it would be time to go to bed and when Julia and I walked downstairs, this is what we found:
...so we had some fun...
...and then we ran into our room and collapsed in a fit of laughter! :)
- Julia and I stayed up even later talking more about EVERYTHING! It was so good to see her again!
Tuesday:
- We left this morning, bright and early. Early enough that we didn't really get to say goodbye, but I left a note.
- The drive was nothing too exciting. Julia got marinara with Pizza Hut bread sticks and managed to not spill! We just had a good drive with plenty of Jesus music and speed. I kind of just wanted to get home at this point.
It was a weekend that I will never forget! Thanks for the memories everyone! :)
